Much of the hype surrounding this game is due to the quality of the two teams. Syracuse is currently ranked No. 4 in the Associated Press’ Top 25 Poll while Villanova is currently ranked No. 7.  Additionally, the ESPN television show, College GameDay, will be taped at the Dome on the morning of the game.

Record setting attendance is nothing new at the dome as the previous record for the largest on-campus crowd for a college basketball game was set in the Dome in 2006 when more than 33,600 fans came out to watch the Orange’s final home regular season game.

Who will win this game is anyone’s guess and I’m sure you can find the odds by looking them up online.  If you want to bet on college basketball, make sure you pick the right team. I’m Just kidding of course but you should do your due diligence to give yourself the best chance of actually winning the bet.

Originally inspired from the unlikely Island Team that made quite a splash as Most Popular Bobsledding Team 22yrs ago, when the unknown Jamaican’s participated in the 1988 Winter Olympics at Calgary, inspiring the movie Cool runnings, fate wasn’t to intervene once again, as the Team’s 4-man Bobsled, driven by Hannukkah Wallace barely made it into the Top 50 World rankings aboard its dilapidated equipment, with the Team running on sparse funding.

And although this placing was quite impressive for a nation hosting just one single Bobsled pilot! Nevertheless their placing wasn’t high enough to make the cut for this year’s Winter Olympics in Vancouver, BC, as the Squad has given up all hope of making the games. But the Team will travel to Vancouver, BC to witness the games first hand as an inspirational tool to hopefully see the Team make the 2014 winter games of Sochi, Russia.

Jamaica also plans to offer recently retired Team USA Bobsled Driver Todd Hays a coaching position, while Hays has also previously helped the minnow-esqe Jamaican squad with his expertise, along with loaning of equipment, so look out for Team Jamaica in 2014…

The Winter Olympics began with tragedy this past Friday, when just hours before the opening ceremonies 21yr old Georgian Luger Nodar Kumaritashvili was fatally injured in a training accident on the extremely high speed Whistler sliding track.

Yet as always, the games must go on and hence the ceremonies were held in Downtown Vancouver, British Columbia’s BC Place, which although one of the only dry venues of the Olympics so far, nevertheless the Olympics’ flame Calderon wasn’t cooperating, before “the Great One,” Wayne Gretzky made his way outdoors in the rain to light a second Calderon this past Friday evening. Also taking part in the flames final display was the Phoenix suns All Star Steve Nash.

And amid less then stellar weather conditions, the Winter Games did get under way on Saturday, with the first medal being won at the K95 Ski jump, while the competition will now continue on thru Sunday, Feb 28, with the Closing ceremonies occurring later that same Sunday evening.

By now everyone knows that the New Orleans Saints have finally crushed the decade’s long tradition of being known as the AIN’TS, by having defeated the Indianapolis Colts in Superbowl XLIV 31-17 in Miami, even after seeing the Colts favored by 5-points.

Thus, with Indianapolis’s inexplicable loss to what seemingly has become this year’s America’s Team, having become the most watched television program in history, having surpassed the 1983 MASH Finale, regrettably Indiana Officials began paying off their various bets with opposing Politicians.

Indiana’s Mayor Greg Ballard had his staff contact five local upscale establishments in order to make good on the bets made with New Orleans outgoing Mayor Ray Nagin.

Indianapolis will send gourmet cookies, a case of Pork Tenderloins, a Barbeque platter, Shrimp cocktails and Cajun food from an ex-New Orleans resident who’d moved to Indiana after Hurricane Katrina, as the food will be sent frozen later this week…

Meanwhile Governor Mitch Daniels awaits his impending portion of the bet, as each Governor agreed to have each others State’s flag displayed either on his public car, his office or other designated location, depending on the winners choice, as Daniels awaits receiving his Louisiana flag.

Yet by far the worst off in Indianapolis was its Lottery Official Kathryn Densborn, who was at the mercy of Saints Fans in an online poll to decide if she’d be doing a N’awlins Second line style dance, eating a raw Oyster for every Saint touchdown scored, or singing when the Saints come Marching in, all in front of the Lucas Oil Stadium.

Fortunately voters went easy on her and chose to hear her version of Who’s Dat Saints Marching-in song, replete in Saints uniform, of which Densborn has requested either of former Hoosier’s Tracy Porter or Courtney Roby’s jersey to perform the song in.

Lastly, Indiana House Speaker Patrick Bauer made his very first bet with opposing Louisiana House Speaker and will now be sending an assortment of Notre Dame Chocolates to his Bayou contemporary.

Word also comes that the triumphant Saints will be forced to use a multitude of different colored beads to throw out to the thousands of adoring fans during its celebratory victory parade as the residents of New Orleans had already snapped up all of the available gold and black beads prior to the Superbowl. No word on whether or not any blue and white beads will be used?

On Friday at 1PM Mountain time, venerable NFL Arizona Cardinals Quarter Back Kurt Warner is expected to announce his retirement from Professional Football, as no word on whether or not the monstrous hit the 38yr old QB received from the New Orleans Saints in their devastating loss had any impact upon his decision?

Meanwhile another Greybeard QB Gunslinger by the name of Bret Favre is said to be mulling another GASP! Retirement? As the 40yr old Favre has once again seen another most excellent season slip away with another ill advised interception; as its entertaining to think that future Hall of Famer No. 4 could be better remembered for his final two Playoff game interceptions then the rest of his illustrious career.

And I believe that the two aging Superstars share one thing in common. They’ve both won and loss a Superbowl… So will Donovan McNabb replace one of these QB’s? Or will the lure of becoming the Sport’s very first 300 consecutive game starter be to enticing for Favre? Stay tuned…
