More than 200 Syracuse University students have been camping inside the Carrier Dome since Wednesday so that they can reserve their seats for the mens’ basketball game this Saturday against Villanova. With 34,616 tickets sold, this game has been sold out for three weeks and it is expected to set the record for the largest crowd for an on-campus college basketball game in NCAA history.

Much of the hype surrounding this game is due to the quality of the two teams. Syracuse is currently ranked No. 4 in the Associated Press’ Top 25 Poll while Villanova is currently ranked No. 7. Additionally, the ESPN television show, College GameDay, will be taped at the Dome on the morning of the game.

Record setting attendance is nothing new at the dome as the previous record for the largest on-campus crowd for a college basketball game was set in the Dome in 2006 when more than 33,600 fans came out to watch the Orange’s final home regular season game.

Who will win this game is anyone’s guess and I’m sure you can find the odds by looking them up online. If you want to bet on college basketball, make sure you pick the right team. I’m Just kidding of course but you should do your due diligence to give yourself the best chance of actually winning the bet.
