Why All the Cutler-hysteria?

January 27th, 2011 · No Comments

So I must admit that I was away from the Gridiron last weekend – having not watched one iota of the NFL Playoffs, nor having checked the scores once. Having returned home ‘Just-in-Time to warm-up the Confuzer and tune-in to a ‘lil radio show called Speed Freaks…

Ironically, the trio of voices spent the first 5-10 minutes dissecting the Jay Cutler mass hysteria, even going so far as to claim that fans were burning Cutler jerseys in effigy; WTF?

Now, having not watched the game, obviously I was unaware of what the dilemma was, albeit very happy that the Green Bay Packers had won, since a long-long time ago, having met a bunch of Wisconsin’s, the phrase: THE BEARS SUCK! Still firmly resonates in my ears today…

So, I just couldn’t get what all of the fuss was about, as how come I know that it was only Cutler’s second-ever NFL playoff game? I mean cut the guy some slack will Yuh? As I’m surrounded by a trio of lifelong Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals and LA/St Louis Rams fans; I mean talk ‘bout being dedicated to some teams that have endured major rough patches, yet they’re all still wearing their respective team jerseys…

Thus, it should be somewhat comforting to Jay Cutler to know that the team quickly divulged the severity of his knee injury that kept him sidelined during the second half of the game, along with the fact that it was the team’s medical staff’s decision to keep the gritty Cutler sidelined.

Meanwhile, I’ve just read that a Car Dealership Salesman in Chicago who wore a Green Bay Packers tie into work the day after (Monday) in deference to his Grandmother – a life long Packers fan; who after being told to remove his tie 5-times in fear it would drive potential customers away from the Chevrolet dealer’s showroom, was fired after refusing to remove his tie… So at least Duh Bears haven’t done anything quite as stupid as that with Mr. Cutler yet…

And now we’re down to the Superbowl, with Big Ben’s Pittsburg Steelers – the team that was gifted their last victory vs. the Seahawks playing against the upstart Green Bay Packers and a red-hot QB named Aaron Rogers. As I think it’d be most symbiotic for the Packers to win the same year that perhaps, just perhaps Green Bay legend Brett Favre really does retire. As the Speed Freaks trio also noted how most likely Aaron Rogers WON’T be sending out pictures of his new shoes anytime soon…
