Matt Morris didn’t last long today as he hit two of the first five batters he faced and was ejected by the umpire. Felipe Alou and Dave Righetti were also ejected for arguing the decision. As an umpire you have to draw the line and hitting two out of five batters is a good idea anyways.
If we don’t stop this idea of hitting batters it is just going to get worse as the season goes. We have already had baseball brawls and this doesn’t set a very good example for little leaguers who watch the game a lot.
