It’s a sad day in hockey when you have to report a gambling issue with the league. Phoenix Coyotes associate coach Rich Tocchet was served with a criminal complaint Monday and was going to answer the charges of promoting gambling, money laundering and conspiracy. It’s alleged that 12 active NHL players placed wagers through him.
Besides Coach Rich Tocchet a state trooper help run the operation which placed over 1.7 million in bets over a 40 day period, with most of the bets being made on football and baseball. No matter how this turns out the NHL didn’t need this kind of story.
