Sugar Bowl Preview

December 30th, 2005 · No Comments

The Sugar Bowl is an interesting game as it pits 10-2 Georgia Bulldogs against the 10-1 West Virginia Mountaineers. Many people have criticized the Big east as weak and that West Virginia really isnít as good as their record indicates. Georgia is led my quarterback D.J. Shockley who is a great talent with good arm strength and can get you a first down with his legs if needed. He will have TE Leonard Pope and WR Mohamed Massaquoi as his primary targets as WR Sean Bailey is injured.

It wonít be easy for Shockley as he will see a very solid West Virginia secondary that will hit you and covers very well. It will be a real test to see if Shockley has patience against this talented secondary. Quarterback Pat White and RB Steve Slaton both freshman will have to continue to lead the Mountaineersí offensive explosion if they hope to add a Sugar Bowl victory to there resume. Both can run the ball well, but Georgiaís defense is stingy only giving up 125 yards rushing per game.

This is a tough game to pick as Iíve seen both teams and I really like Georgia a lot, but my pick will be West Virginia in another close one 24-21.
